I grew up in Virginia and spent my post college years in the Southeast. Throughout the past 11 years I worked in a variety of different mental health settings. Most recently, I completed the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners associate's level training in a correctional institution. This real-life experience brought me face to face with the complexities of the human condition. Aided by self-reflection, loving presence, and a dedication to personal growth and transformation I gained an immense amount of knowledge about the power of the Inner Healer and the human experience. I am now in independent private practice.
Why psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy? My time spent with individuals with a wide range of human experiences helped me see that there is more that we can do to be with each other in this realm we call the human experience. This opened the door to discovering an organization conducting clinical trials using MDMA to treat PTSD (The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies). I completed MAPS' psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy training program (100 hours) in Summer of 2021. As the popularity of psychedelics continues to rise and clinical trials continue to demonstrate success with a variety of mental health diagnoses, in particular PTSD, I am committed to being with individuals on these extra-ordinary journeys of self-discovery, transformation and healing.
I enjoy participating in in-person and virtual workshops with the intention of connecting and educating myself about indigenous cultures and their relationship to healing, racial trauma, intergenerational trauma, breathwork, shamanic practices, yogic philosophy, Depth and Transpersonal Psychology and the evolution and ethical considerations of plant-medicines. I will continue to engage with the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies to gain additional experience in the hopes that one day, MDMA and psychedelic plant medicines inducing enhanced states of awareness will become widely available and recognized for therapeutic use.
I am in ongoing therapy myself and I also participate in individual and group clinical supervision. I am often finding new ways to explore my inner landscape. I am drawn to modalities/trainings that offer opportunities for experiential learning.
Suffering takes on many forms and if gone unintegrated may show up in the strangest of places. We may have an innate knowing that says that we've been living in "survival mode", we are "stuck" and, simultaneously also knowing it is possible to move through this suffering .
Symptoms may manifest as chronic anxiety/fear, depression and overall dis-ease. It is my belief that this is the result of the disconnection from ourselves and our authentic nature. It is my belief that if we can identify how to transform our suffering that we can integrate all parts of ourselves into our psyche harmoniously.
The first step towards transformation is to awaken, allow and listen to our Inner Healing Intelligence. Through genuine human connection, shared vulnerability, compassion, empathy, love, authenticity, safety and trust we can learn how to heal, liberate ourselves, live peacefully with ourselves, within our relationships, our communities and our environment.
